HANDCRAFTED WORKS OF CERAMIC ART
Our pottery is hand casted or molded and painted. Therefore, irregularities do occur. You might see a tiny pin hole in the glaze. No two pieces are identical. Each piece is different and unique with variations in shape, texture and paint. Design and color can vary due to something as a subtle as the pressure of the potters hands on the brush or a flick of a painters wrist. Though we try to hand select each piece, we may miss a piece that has a paint smudge, fingerprint or an extra loose lid. With repeated use, Majolica has a tendency to "craze" (formation of miniscule lines within glazing). This does not effect the durability of the item. These are all characteristics of handmade Majolica.

CARE AND USAGE
Our pottery is food and dishwasher safe. We do not recommend putting items in the microwave or conventional oven unless it specifies that you may do so. All tableware and serving pieces are lead free. Temper dishes and serving pieces before serving very hot foods or liquids to avoid cracking.

ABOUT US
The Pottery Co was started in the Fall of 2003. Our goal is to provide high quality Italian majolica at reasonable prices. We draw upon over twenty years of relationships with many of our suppliers. Our showroom, located in downtown Exeter, New Hampshire, offers a wide selection of unique and traditional Italian ceramic art.

The Pottery Co majolica comes from carefully selected factories in Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia and Sicily. Each piece is hand painted and in most cases hand built. Throughout our Web site, you will see many unique pieces in addition to production work. Many of the designs are traditional and have been created for hundreds of years. Other patterns are new this year. In Italy, pottery is used in both a functional and decorative way. House addresses are often hand made pottery tiles; soup bowls, kitchen backsplashes and wall hangings come from a local or favorite pottery company. The Pottery Co. strives to offer you the opportunity to enjoy these simple pleasures that the Italian people have made part of their culture.

Our store is in beautiful downtown Exeter, New Hampshire. Come visit us soon!
